Leipzig-based band THE SLEEPER was founded by drummer Richard Petzl and former Narziss singer Steven Jost. After Adding Johann Petzl (guitar), Philipp Mundus (guitar) and Eric Mittmann (bass) to the equation, they hit the studio with Simon Hawemann (Nightmarer, War From A Harlots Mouth) and released their debut „Aurora“ in 2013 via Swell Creek Records.
Following the release of „Aurora“ THE SLEEPER kept on playing live, sharing the stage with bands such as In Hearts Wake, Deez Nuts, War From A Harlots Mouth, Final Prayer and many more. They soon built up a reputation as an excellent live-band playing festivals like Euroblast in 2017 and Summerbreeze in 2018.
The same year, the six-song-EP „Apparatus“, mixed and mastered by Johne Browne (Monuments, FluxConduct, Fellsilent) was released via ASTAT Entertainment. Driven by the success of „Apparatus“ THE SLEEPER went back to the studio, now with guitar player/producer Christoph Wieczorek (Annisokay, Sawdust Studios), to release „Swan Dive“ in 2018 and start working on their second full-length.
„Radiant“ was released in 2022. With Christian Kinne on keys the record shows the band going beyond everything they have done before, exploring new elements within their sound, new song structures and styles. Never resting, the band went right back into the studio to record full-length number three, now with Christian on guitar as well. With „Veil“ they went for a more focused sound, taking the best elements off of „Radiant“ and turning them into all-out bangers. „Veil“ is set to be released in Q4/2023.
